• Riding Safely with NC&TC

At NC&TC, we want every club ride to be safe, smooth, and enjoyable. We rely on all riders to help maintain good group riding standards and always follow the Highway Code.

Please remember: joining any NC&TC ride is at your own discretion, and riders are expected to meet our minimum ride standards.

  • Group Riding Tips

We suggest watching this short video showing safe and effective group riding techniques. These skills help keep our rides well-organised and prevent unsafe formations (like riding three abreast), making it safer for everyone.

Before joining a ride, please watch this video, It’s a good starting point for riding confidently with the club.

  • Our Safety Culture

NC&TC has a strong safety culture. We encourage riders to share advice and feedback with each other — it helps us all ride smoother, safer, and more confidently. Please stay open to friendly tips and pointers from fellow riders.

  • Sharing the Road with Horses

Newmarket is horse country, so take extra care around horses. Slow down, give them plenty of space, and follow any guidance from horse riders — they know their horse best. Be mindful that bikes can make unexpected noises that may startle them.

  • Bike Maintenance & Equipment

Every rider is responsible for bringing a safe, roadworthy bike. We strongly recommend using a rear light, especially in winter, to improve visibility.

In winter, please fit full mudguards if possible — they protect the rider behind you far better than saddle mudguards. It’s a small courtesy that makes a big difference.

  • Ride safely, look out for each other, and enjoy the miles together.
