NC&TC Saturday Group Rides
Newmarket Cycling & Triathlon Club (NC&TC) offers four Saturday group rides designed for a wide range of abilities. Use the guide below to choose the ride that suits you best.
Start Location: Newmarket Leisure Centre (NLC)
Meet Time: 08:45 for a prompt 09:00 departure
Ride times may occasionally change due to weather (e.g., icy winter roads). Any updates will be shared via email and Facebook.
In addition to Saturday rides, members also arrange informal rides on other days. These vary in speed and distance depending on who’s attending and are shared separately.
All group rides are free to members and open to everyone — just turn up and ride!
Non-members are very welcome. If you enjoy riding with us, please consider joining the club after your third ride.
Before your first ride, please read our [Club Ride Guidelines], which explain how we ride safely, smoothly, and enjoyably together.
Ride Structure
At NC&TC, everyone is welcome — whether you’re new, returning, or chasing a new personal best. Each ride has a designated guide who plans the route and supports the group. Stronger riders help shield others from the wind — often rewarded with cake!
Most rides include a café stop, usually at Victor Victoria in Newmarket. Club members earn double stamps for every hot drink.
Ride details are emailed weekly (usually by Friday).
Please stay with your chosen group for the entire ride unless you’ve arranged a change with a ride leader. If a faster group overtakes yours, hold your pace — no merging or racing.

Sunday & Bank Holiday Rides
Sunday rides don’t run every week — check the newsletter and Facebook for updates. They usually follow Club or Intermediate pace depending on attendees.
Junior Riders
Juniors (under 18) are welcome if accompanied by a parent or guardian and are capable of maintaining the advertised pace. The parent or guardian must ride with them at all times.
Winter Riding
In colder months, rides may start later (around 10:00 am) to avoid poor road conditions. If a ride is cancelled or changed due to safety concerns, the ride coordinator will notify everyone via email or Facebook.
We recommend bringing a waterproof — it helps you stay warm and improves visibility in case of unexpected stops.
Ride Guides & Contact
We always welcome experienced cyclists to help guide rides. If you have strong group riding skills and are interested, please get in touch. Formal qualifications are great but not required.
